Internal or External Twin Wall Chimney?

We discussed two options with the customer regarding the installation of the twin wall chimney, both were similar costs when factoring in the cost of boring the hole for an external chimney system and so it was the customer’s decision.

One option was to go off the top of the stove with twin wall and directly up through the 2 floors above and straight out of the roof. However, this meant the twin wall would impede into the rooms above and would have to be boxed in.

The customer went for the second option which was to go off the top of the stove at 45 degrees and through the wall and up adjacent to the cottage. The old cottage had stone walls measuring at least 3 feet in width and therefore we used a specialist hole drilling company to bore a smooth 45 degree hole through the wall to reduce vibrations and unsettling the integrity of the buildings structure.

We cleared the ivy from the path of the twin wall chimney system and used two 45 degree bends to go around the soffit. The black powered coated twin wall compliments the drain pipe and reduces the visual impact of the system, so not to spoil the look of this attractive cottage.
